Case Study

PIET: built inside a real manufacturer.

The clearest proof of what Surge builds — a real, production ERP, designed around one company's actual operation and running it today.

Where it comes from

This isn't a product built in a vacuum and pitched at manufacturers from the outside. It's the system BERG Off-Road — a South African off-road trailer and camper manufacturer — built for its own operation, because spreadsheets and disconnected tools had stopped scaling and off-the-shelf ERPs assumed a generic business that didn't fit. Surge's founder, Floris Buys, is a director at BERG and built it there first, working AI-first with Claude Code.

Since going live in July 2026, it has run BERG's full quote-to-cash cycle in daily production: 24 connected modules covering sales, production, quality control, procurement, HR, and finance — replacing spreadsheets and WhatsApp with one system.

What this proves

One person, working AI-first, delivered a real system a whole manufacturing business now runs on — not a pilot, not a demo. It's the reason Surge can say what it builds actually works: this is the standard, not a special case.

How this kind of build runs

The same process applies to any bespoke build, whatever the industry — see What We Build for the full picture.
